REPORTS TO: Mitigation Manager 
LOCATION: Ottawa, ON, Canada 
 
A Senior Crew Chief is a leader, with substantial experience across all disaster types in both residential and commercial claims. They possess in-depth knowledge and expertise across all types of disasters, both in residential and commercial claims. Their role is critical in ensuring that all crew members are well-coordinated and equipped with the necessary skills and resources to handle any situation that arises. Additionally, they act as a liaison between their team and the clients, ensuring that all communication is clear and effective.
 
Summary
A Senior Crew Chief works under the general supervision of the Mitigation Manager. They are responsible for leading their direct crew and setting an excellent example for the department and all other Crew Chiefs and their crew members. They have the ability, confidence, and knowledge to lead multiple crews when responding to all emergency services activities and ensure that they are completed following the Paul Davis Way. The Crew Chief sets the highest standard for the department and has the following essential responsibilities and tasks (illustrative, not inclusive):

Supervisory 
  • Professionally represents the Paul Davis principles of honesty and integrity. 
  • Serves as the point person and first responder for every assigned emergency loss across both residential and commercial claims.
  • Maintains a leadership role within the department, across all Crew Chiefs, Technicians, and General Labourers. 
  • Act as a leader on all jobs with respect to quality workmanship, Health & Safety policies and procedures, and Brand Awareness. 
  • Conducts crew training in customer service, policies & procedures, best practices, and recommends training opportunities.  
General Tasks
  • Establishes and implements the scope of work to be accomplished.
  • Coordinates, supervises, and actively participates in all emergency work assigned to their crew.
  • Acts as the lead communicator with management and customers.
  • Performs on-call, both on-rotation and on-demand due to extraordinary circumstances.
  • Able to climb a ladder, and work in confined spaces.
  • Always maintains a clean and safe vehicle, along with promoting and supervising the standard across the mitigation fleet.
  • Able to lift at least 75 pounds.
  • Able to work around a variety of approved chemicals without any adverse reaction or sensitivity.
  • Follows established safety practices including the proper use of PPE when required.
A Senior Crew Chief must hold at least three of the following IICRC Certifications:
  • Water Restoration
  • Applied Structural Drying
  • Fire & Smoke
  • Asbestos Worker
  • Asbestos Supervisor
  • Applied Microbial Restoration Technician
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures of water, fire, and mold trades.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, solutions, and use of solvents.
  • Ability to troubleshoot & problem-solve independently and in collaboration with management.
  • Ability to keep abreast of techniques and preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Ability to use and maintain hand, power, and truck-mounted tools.
  • Ability to develop, learn, and properly apply operating and work procedures.
  • Ability to plan and organize work.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate written and/or oral instructions.
  • Ability to meet predetermined deadlines.
  • Ability to safely move and relocate heavy objects.
  • Ability to exercise judgment when to act independently and when to refer situations to management.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with employees, contractors/vendors, outside agencies, and the public.  
  • Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods.  
Possession of a valid Ontario G class Driver’s License and a clean driving record is required at the time of hiring and must be maintained while employed. A police check will be conducted before any employment commences, and must be maintained while employed.
Compensation: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour
